In Pocketverse 1996, DR O'Callaghan was working on the preservation virus (P virus) that was designed to give those infected near immortality. When an unknown group of soldiers break into his lab they accidently destroy the vial containing it. Before he could escape he was infected by the virus but it didn't work how it was intended. As the soldiers enter, DR O'Callaghan is no longer himself. After he attacks and infects the soldiers the virus slowly spreads throughout the world.
This event gives a nod to the classic Resident Evil franchise. 1996 was the release year of the original game and the premise is loosely inspired by the story of RE2.
During the limited event holders of pocket people could purchase or blend virus packs. These packs contained 2 items. A virus sample and 1 of 5 collectable cards.
Virus samples are used to get a zombified version of a pocket person via a NFTHIVE mirror craft. These zombies have no use case of of yet but who knows they may gain a use in the future :)
People who collected all 5 cards were awarded an exclusive medal which is stake-able in a WAXDAO to earn wax overtime.
